Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed: 20 October 2026
Smitteck GmbH, Zurich, Switzerland, operates Regulations.ai. We want the site to be usable by everyone, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, screen magnification or high zoom levels. This statement applies to the public pages of regulations.ai.
Standard we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These are the requirements for web content in clause 9 of the European standard EN 301 549 v3.2.1.
Conformance status
Regulations.ai is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the site do not yet fully meet the standard. The known gaps are listed below.
What we have checked and fixed
On 20 October 2026 we tested 25 public pages (including the home page, tracker hubs, calendar, enforcement tracker, research, glossary, about, privacy and terms) with the automated checker axe-core, at desktop width and at 320 pixels wide. Following that audit we:
- gave the mobile menu button and other icon-only buttons an accessible name;
- gave every filter and sort drop-down a label that screen readers announce;
- darkened the site's blue and the light grey text so that text meets the 4.5:1 contrast ratio;
- fixed pages that scrolled sideways at 320 pixels wide;
- underlined links inside running text, so they do not rely on colour alone;
- labelled the page regions (navigation, announcements, footer) and corrected the heading order.
Known limitations
- Language switcher. Translations are produced by the third-party Google Translate widget. We do not control its output: translated pages may not announce the correct language to screen readers, and the translated text has not been checked. The original English pages are not affected.
- Pages not yet audited. Individual regulation records, glossary terms, news articles, breakdowns and other pages generated from our database have not yet been audited one by one, nor have the pages behind sign-in (dashboard, account settings, AI chat). They use the same components as the audited pages, so the fixes above apply to them, but they may contain issues we have not found.
- Interactive map. The world map on the map page has not been tested with a keyboard and screen readers. The same regulations can be browsed by jurisdiction in the regulation tracker.
- Manual testing. Automated tools find only part of the barriers that exist. A full manual review with a keyboard and screen readers has not yet been completed.
- Third-party documents. Regulation pages link to official texts hosted by governments and other bodies. Those documents, including PDFs, are outside our control and may not be accessible.
