New independent institute for AI safety analysis and testing.
Definition
The AISI is a newly established federal institute charged with providing independent technical analysis, monitoring, safety testing, and advice to regulators; it is intended to become operational in early 2026 and to share findings with portfolio regulators and international safety institute networks to inform proportionate interventions.
