Definition
Drawing from Article 9 of the GDPR, 'special categories of personal data' include data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, genetic data, biometric data for unique identification, health data, or data concerning a natural person's sex life or sexual orientation. The processing of such data is generally prohibited unless specific conditions are met, due to the high risks it poses to fundamental rights and freedoms.
