Measuring up: Evaluating claims about AI and productivity in the UK public sector

Abstract

This briefing is designed to equip policymakers, journalists and others with the tools to critically evaluate AI productivity claims in the UK public sector. It examines the dominant methodologies underpinning current estimates, surfaces recurring weaknesses in the evidence base and offers a framework of questions for interrogating the numbers as they are presented.
