Scope — first pass. This is an initial, non-exhaustive build that we are actively expanding. Regulatory actions are global; litigation coverage is currently US-focused (from public court dockets). Cases are included where an AI company or AI system is a named party. Data current as of September 27, 2026.
Methodology & sources
What’s included. Two kinds of entry: (1) regulatory enforcement — fines, orders, bans and investigations issued by data-protection, consumer-protection, financial and other regulators; and (2) litigation — court cases that have been filed. An entry is listed when an AI company or AI system is a named party.
Sources. Every entry links to an official government, regulator or court source. Regulatory actions point to the issuing authority’s own page; litigation points to the public court docket via CourtListener (a non-profit publisher of U.S. court records). Entries were gathered from official regulator sites, CourtListener’s public API and web search, and each source URL is checked to resolve on an official domain before publishing.
Status. For litigation, Active/Closed is taken from the court docket’s termination date; Filed means the filing is recorded but a termination date isn’t confirmed — check the linked docket for the latest. For regulatory actions, Concludedmeans a decision, fine or order was issued and Ongoing means an open investigation.
Limitations. This is a first pass and is not exhaustive. Litigation coverage is currently U.S.-focused; major non-U.S. suits and some categories (e.g. biometric/BIPA, AI in insurance, AI hiring) are not yet fully covered. Regulatory summaries are drafted from the official source — confirm specific figures against the linked decision. Inclusion is not a statement that any party acted unlawfully.
