Irreversible de-identification of personal data.

Definition

The process by which personal data is transformed so that it can no longer be associated with an identifiable natural person in an irreversible manner, effectively removing identification risk while allowing use of the resulting data for non-identifying purposes; the directive endorses disassociation as a safeguard where appropriate.
