As defined in section 250.40 of the penal law, 'disseminate' refers to the act of spreading information widely. In the context of this bill, it applies to the distribution of synthetic media.
To widely share or enter into a contract or other agreement to widely share a deep fake.
To 'disseminate' means to sell, distribute, deliver, provide, exhibit, post on social media, or otherwise make an image available to a third party. It specifically excludes displaying an intimate image in private solely to the person depicted in that image, clarifying the intent to prevent wider unauthorized sharing.
