Limited-Risk AI System

AI systems with specific transparency obligations, such as chatbots and emotion recognition.

Definition

Limited-Risk AI Systems are AI applications that carry specific transparency obligations under the EU AI Act. These systems must inform users that they are interacting with an AI system, allowing them to make informed decisions.

Examples include AI chatbots, AI systems that generate or manipulate image, audio, or video content (deepfakes), and emotion recognition systems. Users must be notified when content has been artificially generated or manipulated.

While these systems don't face the extensive compliance requirements of high-risk AI, they must still ensure users are aware of the AI's involvement in generating content or making decisions.
