An administrative determination by the MDIA formally acknowledging that an innovative technology arrangement or service meets relevant statutory criteria and is entered onto an MDIA register or issued a certificate; recognition triggers rights, obligations, oversight, and potential use of MDIA-approved service providers. The recognition process includes application, assessment against technical and governance standards, and conditions for suspension, revocation or renewal.

A statutory concept encompassing licences, registrations, authorisations, approvals, certifications and other formal instruments that the Malta Digital Innovation Authority may issue to permit or validate the operation, deployment or conformity of technologies and providers. Recognition is the legal mechanism used to grant market access, confer conformity status, and trigger supervision or obligations under the Act.
